Quick Start Guide
Welcome to Orki! This guide will walk you through setting up your first AI agent using a real example: Balloon Bliss, a balloon decoration business.
By the end of this guide, you'll have an AI agent that:
- Knows your business inside and out
- Answers customer questions accurately
- Is live on your website handling real conversations
What We're Building
We'll create an AI assistant for Balloon Bliss, a balloon decoration company. Our agent will:
- Answer questions about balloon packages and pricing
- Explain delivery options
- Handle booking inquiries
- Provide information about custom designs
Let's get started!
Step 1: Complete Onboarding
When you first sign up for Orki, you'll go through a 3-stage onboarding process:
- Personal Details - Your name, email, and phone number
- Company Profile - Your business name and information
- Create Your First AI Agent - Set up your agent's personality and behavior
Agent Settings Overview
During onboarding, you'll configure your AI agent with several key settings:
Basic Identity
- Name: What your agent calls itself (e.g., "Bella" for Balloon Bliss)
- Dialect: The language style (e.g., Gulf Arabic, Egyptian Arabic, English)
- Personality: The tone of responses (Professional, Friendly, Casual, etc.)
- Gender: Affects language in gendered languages like Arabic
Chat Style
- AI Disclosure: Whether the agent mentions it's an AI
- Response Length: How detailed responses should be
- Emoji Use: How frequently emojis appear in responses
Advanced Settings
These are the most powerful customization options:

Interaction Steps: Define the conversation flow your agent should follow. For Balloon Bliss, we set up steps like: greet customer → understand their event → suggest packages → collect details → confirm booking.

Custom Instructions: Free-form instructions that guide your agent's behavior. For example: "Always ask about the event date and venue size before recommending a package."

Step 2: Test in the Playground (Before Knowledge)
After onboarding, let's see what your agent can do right away.
- Click Playground in the sidebar
- Your new agent should be selected
- Start a conversation
What You'll Notice
Your agent can hold a natural conversation, but watch what happens when you ask specific questions about your business:
Try asking:
- "What balloon packages do you offer?"
- "How much does a birthday setup cost?"
- "Do you deliver to my area?"
The agent will give generic responses because it doesn't have your business information yet. It might say something like "We offer various packages" instead of listing your actual packages with prices.
This is expected! Your agent is smart, but it needs YOUR data to give accurate answers.
Step 3: Add Knowledge to Your Agent
Now let's give your agent the information it needs. We'll crawl the Balloon Bliss website to extract all the content.
- Go to Knowledge Base in the sidebar
- Click Add Source
- Select Website
- Enter your website URL
- Click Start Crawl
Orki will automatically:
- Crawl all pages on your website
- Extract text content, product information, and FAQs
- Process and index everything for your AI
Wait for Processing
After adding sources:
- You'll see a progress indicator
- Processing typically takes a few minutes
- The status will change to "Ready" when complete
Assign Knowledge to Your Agent
Once processing is complete, you need to assign the knowledge source to your agent:
- Go to your AI Agent settings
- Find the Knowledge Sources section
- Select the website source you just added
- Save your changes
Step 4: Test Again (With Knowledge)
Now let's see the dramatic difference! Return to the Playground and ask the same questions:
Ask: "What balloon packages do you offer?"
Before (without knowledge):
"We offer various balloon decoration packages for different occasions."
After (with knowledge):
"We have several packages available! Our Birthday Bash package starts at 150 OMR and includes 50 balloons with a custom arch. The Grand Celebration package is 300 OMR with 100+ balloons, backdrop, and table arrangements. For weddings, we have the Forever Love package starting at 500 OMR..."
Your agent now gives specific, accurate information pulled directly from your website!
Step 5: Connect Web Chat Integration
Time to put your AI agent live on your website!
- Go to Integrations in the sidebar
- Select Web Chat
- Click Create Widget
- Customize the appearance:
- Choose colors that match your brand
- Set a welcome message
- Configure the chat button position
- Copy the embed code
Add to Your Website
Add the embed code to your website, just before the closing </body> tag:

Step 6: See It Live!
Your AI agent is now live! Let's test it on your actual website.
- Visit your website
- Click the chat widget
- Start a conversation
- Watch your AI handle it perfectly!

All conversations appear in your Chats inbox:
- See real-time messages
- Monitor AI responses
- Jump in to take over if needed
- View customer profiles

Congratulations! Your AI agent is now:
- Trained with your business knowledge
- Connected to your website

Troubleshooting
Agent gives generic responses
- Check that your knowledge base has finished processing
- Ensure the knowledge source is assigned to your agent
- Verify the information exists in your sources
- Try adding specific FAQs for common questions
Knowledge base not processing
- Check that the website URL is accessible
- Ensure the website isn't blocking crawlers
- Try adding content manually via Documents or FAQs
Web chat widget not showing
- Make sure the embed code is correctly placed
- Check for JavaScript errors in browser console
- Verify the widget is enabled in settings
Messages not appearing in Chats
- Verify your integration is connected and active
- Check that your agent is assigned to the channel
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting
